Baby Signs by Tina C. offers play classes to teach beginning signs to hearing babies eight to 14 months. Each class in the 6-week series introduces a new set of signs along with parent education topics to help parents understand how babies learn and develop language. A take-home kit is included with board books, music CD, and other reference items to continue signing at home. Babies are exposed to the signs and parents leave with a robust set of signs that allow them into their babies world of thoughts, interests, feelings and memories! The infant-parent bond is strengthened and babies get a head-start on confidence, high self-esteem and early literacy not to mention stress reduction for baby and parent! Only a few classes are taught each year so get in while you can. An additional class is also offered for older toddlers (14 – 24+ months). If parents don’t see a class scheduled on the Baby Signs website they can contact Tina to express an interest and talk about class locations.
Home trainings are available for parents who can’t attend a weekday play class.
Additional classes include a sibling class (older siblings 2-5 years and baby – expecting to 6 months) and a four-week-series tummy time class to help babies learn to love this ever-important stage of their development.

Your baby’s first year is key. Babies are born with innate abilities to learn, communicate, and progress through motor milestones. I’ll show you how to preserve those abilities from the beginning and help you create a magical connection with your baby.
By truly regarding your baby or toddler as a respectable person, meeting him/her on her level, allowing her to lead the way in her development, and communicating in a connected way, you’ll raise a happy, confident child grounded in the foundations you want for her. But doing this can be very confusing because many of today’s parenting practices actually override babies’ innate abilities and create unintended outcomes. Let me help you pinpoint what you want and how to get there.

I am Amy McKnight and I am the owner of THE SIGNING CONNECTION. I teach Infant/Child and Family American Sign Language classes in the Austin/Round Rock/San Marcos areas. In our classes, we learn our basic ASL signs to aid in verbal and pre-verbal communication. By teaching the little ones sign language, it has been proven to decrease the fussiness and tantrums. Learning ASL has been shown to increase IQ, create stronger bonds between parent and child, and promote a measurable increase in vocabulary before the verbal skills have emerged. In our classes we use songs, stories and finger plays to help emphasize the weekly words in our theme-based class. Parents are then confident that they can become the language model for the children and reinforce the signs in the home environment.
